How do I get started in a career in insurance or
securities?
You must pass an exam sponsored by the insurance department in the state where you live and wish to sell insurance. Once licensed in a given state you may be able to apply for licensing in adjoining states through reciprocal agreements between the various states. You should expect to be required to take and pass State approved Continuing Education (CE) classes each year; actual CE requirements vary from state to state.
